The “Little” Mercado
Through a grant funded by Housing and Urban Development, Nogales Community Development developed land on Morley Avenue in the Nogales business district. The primary objective of this project has been to assist individuals and businesses in becoming more financially independent.
Today this Entrepreneurial Development Area on Morley Avenue is called The “Little” Mercado in honor of John Little, a Nogales resident and former board member whose guidance moved the Nogales Main Street Program is a positive direction. Located in the heart of the Nogales business district, The “Little” Mercado offers small enterprises a centrally located place to operate their business and features additional parking for the downtown area. Business plan development and financial management training is available to any business interested in participating.
The Little Mercado also hosts events such as the Nogales Mercado Farmer’s Market and First Fridays. The Nogales Mercado—which takes place on Fridays from 4 – 7 p.m., and from 3 – 6 p.m. in the winter—is a weekly farmer’s market where local growers and vendors offer fresh and healthy food options to the community (Click here for more information).
