Building on Two Decades of Success
Since its founding nearly 20 years ago, Nogales Community Development (NCD), has built a strong record of delivering services to individuals, families and businesses in the region. Over the years, we have joined with federal, state, regional and local organizations to address the needs of our community and to develop the high caliber of services we now provide. NCD has developed internal capacity, alliances, and program evaluation techniques, which have enabled us to administer millions of dollars in funding from federal, state, and local agencies as well as from corporations and foundations.
A Key Move Expands Our Reach throughout Santa Cruz County
Nogales Community Development was originally known as Historic Nogales Main Street, a grassroots organization made up of downtown merchants and property owners. Our primary goal then was to revitalize and encourage economic diversity in downtown Nogales. To achieve our goals, we had to create more opportunities for small businesses and enhance the lives of people living in downtown Nogales and throughout Santa Cruz County.
NCD reincorporated in 2003 in order to create a more comprehensive approach to fostering long-term economic growth in the central business district and surrounding neighborhoods, while preserving the unique heritage and culture of Nogales and Santa Cruz County.
Today We’re Building Thriving Communities
Today, NCD has an active board of directors and five full-time staff supported by three part-time employees. In addition to providing direct services to residents, we run “bricks and mortar” projects to help low-income entrepreneurs, people in need of affordable housing and people looking for jobs.
